In 2011, Rocky Mountain Hardware introduced a product collection cast of CuVerro® bactericidal copper alloy. This unique offering combines Rocky Mountain’s state of the art manufacturing capabilities and casting knowledge with Olin Brass’ CuVerro, a solid surface that continuously kills 99.9% of harmful bacteria*, when cleaned regularly. The resulting products perfectly marry form and function, not only to help combat exposure to harmful bacteria* in healthcare facilities but also in any public area.
Rocky Mountain Hardware and HOK Product Design joined forces to create Verdura, a new collection of door hardware made with antimicrobial copper. With an eye toward healthcare, spa and wellness centers, and even educational institutions, the collection’s contemporary lines were designed to fill a void in the healthcare and wellness world where aesthetics are sometimes sacrificed to practicality.
The Pure Collection, featuring simple clean lines, was designed to meet the needs of the healthcare industry and beyond. This collection includes door hardware with an ADA compliant return lever and optional indicator locks, push/pull paddle trim, handicap door button opener and more.
CuVerro® is a class of copper-based alloys that continuously kill harmful bacteria* 24 hours a day. These attractive, durable and easy to maintain surfaces represent the only class of EPA-registered solid surface materials that actively kill bacteria*.
The inherent properties of CuVerro® work 24/7 in between cleaning, never washing off or wearing away and thus, it’s ideally suited for touch surfaces where bacteria is a concern.
CuVerro® is backed by sound science, GLP testing and EPA registration. Other surface coatings or additives that imply antimicrobial efficacy are neither tested to EPA’s GLP protocols, nor recognized by the EPA to protect people against disease-causing bacteria*.
Until now the most effective infection control plans combined proven practices such as routine cleaning, hand washing and good hygiene practices. CuVerro® bactericidal surfaces can enhance any infection control plan by providing a surface that continuously kills bacteria*.
Never Washes Away
CuVerro® bactericidal alloys are solid copper surfaces that will not wear, wash or scratch away. This is one of the main reasons why the EPA has registered copper alloys for their antimicrobial efficacy, and not other coatings and additives.
Colors and Finishes
Each piece can be cast in three EPA regiatered alloys including—Rose, Silicon and White. A brushed or matte finish is then applied, creating 6 finish options. Bronze is known for having a living finish; each piece will uniquely change due to time, cleaning, touch and environment, which will not compromise the antimicrobial properties. All finishes included in price.
*Laboratory testing shows that, when cleaned regularly, CuVerro surfaces kill greater than 99.9% of the following bacteria within 2 hours of exposure: Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli O157:H7, and Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE). The use of CuVerro® bactericidal copper products is a supplement to and not a substitute for standard infection control practices; users must continue to follow all current infection control practices, including those practices related to cleaning and disinfection of environmental surfaces. This surface has been shown to reduce microbial contamination, but it does not necessarily prevent cross contamination. (RM-008-1511) See cuverro.com for more details.
